DECEMBER 2012
After two and a half fab years of terrorising the local with our close harmony singing, we've decided to rest the Foulplay set indefinitely. We've had a blast and thanks to everyone who came to see us in our 2009–2011 guise. We're all off doing our own separate projects but we can never rule out the odd get together to perform the set. Hopefully, we'll see you around.
A BIG THANKS guys for all your time and effort - I wouldn't have missed it for the world - Lee
JANUARY 20011
Welcome to our new Drummer Andy Bibby! Andy will be helping us out in Shoey's absence (Shoey had to leave the country for tax reasons ;-) . Andy has an impressive musical CV, having played all over the country with Oblivion for 14 years, as well as with many other bands and musicians. He now works as a session drummer and drum teacher as well as playing with The Brunswick’s resident Booze Band.
The band - FOULPLAY - comprises four of the area's most experienced muso's. Neil Beech and Lee Garner share the duties on guitar and vocals and are joined by drummer Steve 'Shoey' Shoebridge and bassist Nick 'Spoons' Bayes.
Shoey, Neil and Lee performed in a band called 'Fourplay' in the late 80's achieving national success. After being courted by EMI and MCA records they were offered a recording contract by the now defunct Jet Records (ELO, Ozzy Osbourne, Roy Wood, Magnum etc). The band supported such acts as Dr and the Medics and Bros amongst others during that era.
Lee's songwriting success came with top 75 hits by artists featuring the SAW star Miriam Stockley as backing vocalist. Since then they have continued to contribute to the local music scene, appearing between them in a plethora of local bands such as Big Blue House, Voice, Beam, The Space Hoppers and The Blues Roosters amongst others over the years.
Bassist Spoons achieved national recognition with 'Tower Struck Down' in the early 90's. He featured on several international tours with the band and enjoyed significant UK success, appearing at Glastonbury Festival and supporting the likes of the late Kirsty MacColl. Spoons spent 2009 touring with the singer/songwriter/guitarist Chloë Chadwick, playing a host of summer festivals and numerous other gigs including support slots to acts including Spear of Destiny, The Christians and XFactor's Diana Vickers & Eoghan Quigg.
